so...i think we need some help. we get asked quite a bit: "well what does your music sound like?" and i really don't know what to tell people. maybe i'm too close to the subject matter? whatever the case, any input on this matter would be much appreciated. hope all is well with everyone.
peace

Hello all,
I like a suggestion we've heard before, to list bands that we do like, then say that if you like them you'll like us. This has problems though, however.
Nate & I were talking about this and I said: every time people ask "What's our sound?" We should have a promo CD on hand (4 tracks maybe) and hand them one and tell them "You tell me." When we finally hear a description we think fits, let's use that..
I don't think our band, even within our original music, stays within one genre. We travel all over the musical range, from finger picking tunes with driving beats to tribal drum & bass and everything in between. That's why everyone has to hear it! There's something for everyone.
I've heard our sound described, based on the two tunes we have on the website, as: -Acoustic funk -Jam music -Alternative -Jazzy/bluesy -Rock -Funk
I don't think any of these titles cover the spectrum of music we play, hence they're not up to the task. I think we'd have to invent a new word(s) to describe our sound.. and we have..
Local Spirits!
My $0.02 -Brandon

What comes to mind is "Music to Bar-b-Que to" Whenever I hear you guys it just makes me want to have a beer in one hand a cigarette in the other and sitting on a patio in someone’s backyard. It makes just a great chill atmosphere but keeps everyone upbeat and ready to dance at he same time. So the next time some one ask you, tell them Music to Bar-b-Que to, and I think they should be able to visualize what it is. And if they don't get what you are saying, well then screw'em, tell the to pay the 4 dollar cover charge and find out for them selves

I like the idea of having a generic tag like "Music to Bar-b-Que to" because describing music with words really defeats the sound. The reality is, some people like me make their living describing music with words, so having some sort of tangible description really does help people. Not only journalists, but music lovers that have never heard your tunes. I tend to decribe my band's music differently everytime, because it changes just like yours does. JUST SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.....
