hey i just wanted to start this thread so that it's not date/or show specific. i wanted to send a shout out to say thanks to everyone who came out this weekend. especially those that made it for both shows. and to my fellow shoeless freaks - killer practice last night. pretty soon shows are going to take on a whole new look as far as the setlist is concerned! (fyi - we nailed three...yeah three new originals and a cover tune last night.) so thanks again to everyone. we really appreciate your support.
take care and enjoy the day

We should be the ones thanking you!! Had a hell of a drunk and a great time at both shows. How did Waffle House go Saturday night. Scattered, smothered, covered, and chunked hell yeah makes me want to go get some of those tasty hash browns right now.

Hello all,
I'd like to express sincere thanks for everyone who made it out to the show at Molly's. We did it! They really liked it and we're playing there Saturday October 14th and again in December (date tba, not sure off the top of my head).
I hope everyone had a great time! It was nice seeing you all.
Cheers! -BT

That is awesome!!!! I had a great time and all there (familiars and newbies) were all really groovin' to your tunes. Don't get discouraged that the uninitiated were diggin the covers more. Your tunes had them on the floor as well. People flock to the familiar, and your tunes will soon be familiar to them as well, thanks to the new dates there. I'm sorry I won't be able to travel with you next time. I'll be in the lovely city of Seattle, I'll be happy to drop some press packs off while there if you like. (Ready to travel?)

Sounds like a good time. As usual I had something going on. It was my wifes cousin wedding, and she was the matron of honor so I had to go. Hopefully I will be able to sneak away next time.

Congrats guys! I thought the show went really well, and apparently lots of new people were digging it since they already booked more shows. Can't wait to go up there again and drink some more BBC nutbrown (I know Craig feels me on that one!!). It'll be really awesome when there are CDs to sell too!!

Hell yeah, it'll be great to get this monkey err CD off our backs.. heh. It's just been tons of work, draining our spiritual energy.
But it's all good! It's definitely a love-hate thing. Hate all of the double work, time requirements, but love the CD..
Nat, hope to see ya on Friday @ the Dragon!
Cheers -BZ

okay now i'm back on my computer...at work...on my lunchbreak...blissfully pecking away at this old dusty keyboard. so brandon and i were on our one of our many trips to louisville last night when a thought occurred to me. brandon and i have very productive discussions and brainstorms on these trips by the way. anyway that's neither here nor there. but i thought that some people might be interested in the stories behind the songs. kind of our own little storie tellers in cyberspace. if you don't want to know....then stop reading now. i'm only going to do them one at a time because frankly, i don't like to type that much. some will be more detailed than others and some really don't have the juicy story that some people think they do. so again, if you have a really good story about what you "think" the song is about, then, by all means, stop reading now, and keep your story...it's probably better than mine. i guess the first song i'll start with is....drum roll please....tomorrow maybe. this was a fun song. it started with my guitar part. i was stuck on that particular pattern and was playing it quite a bit, especially when i was in fiji. one day i was riding the bus from the north end of the island down to the southern end for some snorkeling and what not and there was an old local on the bus that just captured my imagination. i don't know his name, where he was from, or really anything at all about him, except that he was an old fijian taking the morning bus to do whatever it was he does. so in my mind i just started to play out possibilities and that's how the lyrics came about. although, in the chorus...and this is really cool: "he can hold the thunder in his hand"....that's actually the one and only mr.craig hagan. because he holds the thunder in his hand at the beginning of kelani! that is the only line in the song that is not about the old fijian guy on the bus. i just added it because it was such an interesting thought. i just loved the idea of being able to hold thunder in your hand! hehehe and when i introduced this song to brandon and craig and told them how i heard it in my head, it all fell together in a matter of minutes. it was like we'd been playing the song for months. it was really cool. so that's just a little insight to that song. i hope you've enjoyed this chapter.

I'd like to add to that story about Tomorrow Maybe.
I liken this song to Athena from Greek mythology...
Nate had recently gotten back from Fiji and he had this idea for a song... we were at practice, and he played the guitar part for a couple seconds, did this beat box drum sound with his mouth to describe to Craig what he was thinking about in the reggae-ish section, and told me something along the lines of 'do what you do best' for my part.
Craig counted it off and we dropped right into the groove, with few changes ever made since then. It's like the song just jumped out of Nate's head fully developed and ready to rock.
I love it.

Keep on thinking about more stuff its real cool and interesting. We will have to do something about the fact that Nate doesn’t like to type, its not always about you Nate, this is bigger than you. Just joking. ha ha. Anyway about to leave work and go running downtown got to try and lose some weight I have picked up a couple extra pounds. I look like a warm marshmallow, its ridiculous.
