Alrighty. I think B asked for some suggestions a while back of possible venues to play in different towns. I just thought we could start a little thread of recommendations. Where are some places that you have been, or have heard of, that might be good places to approach? Or maybe even just cool parts of town in different cities that can be 'target areas' for passing out demos? (this is actually just creating an excuse for me to brouse the internet all day instead of actually doing work..)
They've already booked Lynagh's and the Fishtank in Lex. and Dark Star in BG...

This place in Louisville might be a good one to contact. www.gerstles.com/It's in a pretty neat part of town, and must draw a pretty good crowd if they have live music every day. I was checking out some of their past bands and they seem to be all over the board as far as music type, but they are all enjoyable!

Awesome. Thanks for starting this list Jessie! Here are some places we're considering: 1) The Hideaway (Lville) 2) Phoenix Tavern (Lville) 3) Two Keys (Lex.) 4) Union Junction? Unsure of name (Lville) 5) Tidballs (BG) Yeah it's a short list, lol. We have our thinking caps on too Cheers -B

Don't do Two Keys. It's not the same as it used to be. It doesn't get a very large crowd anymore I don't think. What about Cheapside?

I guess I should give you a list of where we've gone:
Lynagh's (booked) FishTank (booked) Cheapside Avio (terrible) Atomic Cafe (closed when we went there) Salattos The Dame Shamrock (no drums allowed) Phoenix Hill Ballroom (now closed, renamed)
I'm probably forgetting a couple..

I would also suggest the Sunday night faves such as Bigg Blue Martini or Bogart's. There's also a newer place called Blue Line Diner that sometimes has bands play up there.

hey got an update for you guys, I talked to the guys at the Rud, they are looking for acts and now. The deal with them is they are really trying to promote business now because thier liquor liscence is up Nov 1 and they are afraid they wont be able to cover it. You guys can call them today or I may just call them and get back to you... you need to talk to a chick named Erin, the phone number is 1-502-636-1311. They dont open til 6:00 tonight, so we have time and such... Tell her you know or have a friend who knows Mike Welch and Megan Mcdonald ( two of the bar tenders) and you want to see if you can schedule a show.... good luck

Killer, Thanks for doing the leg work.
We've had some weird conversations with bar owners, but there are recurring themes: "we don't care if you suck if you bring a lot of people" and "it doesn't really matter what you sound like as long as it's not offensive."
Trying to get these people on the phone is like pulling teeth too, but it's all good. Just thought I'd share those lovely tidbits..

Hey Becca, I think the earliest we could do a show would be the 10th of Nov, if that's not too late. We don't want to take away from the pre-release party on Sat. and we're booked the next weekend. That's a Nate & Craig question, I'm up for anything. Cheers -B
